Romantic Bedroom
The views overlooking the Stonebridge Ranch Golf Course in McKinney, Texas, gives a sense of escape for a songwriter who sleeps here. Playing and writing music in this intimate setting is our best argument for putting the piano on this private stage. The mauve-tinted sienna paint by Glidden provides a soft, almost absent backdrop for the eclectic furnishings in this dramatic space that epitomizes a romantic decor style.
The Details
Graceful dupioni silk drapery surrounds this heirloom vintage Louis the XV Steinway. The stage is spotlighted with a Park Hill Collection floral drum pendant. A vintage chalk lamp dawned with ducks (a gift from friends in a previous season) sits atop a pair of repurposed art deco plant stands, perfect to support a morning cup of coffee while quieting on this mid-century luxury sofa in orange velvet from Ceylon et Cie, Dallas Design District.
The traditional Crate and Barrel antiqued black four poster bed has been carried and repurposed in homes multiple times remaining classic and true. A simple floral spray from UK floral designer Abigail Ahern puts a softening and romantic touch on the piano. The heirloom chinoiserie bedside table and colonial era quilt layer well with the Amity Home luxury viscose and velvet quilts. Nuances such as the hand-painted black gloss and gold ceiling medallions make a significant difference representing the level of detail Liz Gabriel applies in her interior design projects.

“My first concern when we bought this house was where to put the piano. We had never considered putting it in the bedroom! It has been the perfect space of solace for practicing and writing and I get to enjoy the outdoor views while playing! We were impressed by LGI’s process and how they really got to know us before making design decisions. If you want a lot of intention behind your design and how the project is run, they are the ones to hire.”
